Wrecked Ship Matte PAinting WIP

I'm considering making a model of this, with out all of the fancy background for my demo reel.  The front of the ship will have a mermaid-type siren sitting on it.  The idea is that she has called ship and crashed it.  If I do this for my reel, the scene will be on a turntable, so imagine this in a smaller scale.

Speed Paintings!

Here are a couple speed paintings I did in class on Monday night.  Both of these were around 40 minute.  I think I might actually make the first one an initial concept for my 3D demo reel.

I did these two the week before. We were to take the mood from one image and paint it into the composition of another.

Model Concept!

A while ago I came up with a concept for my final project in Sculpting class. It was a maquette of some sort od alien woman.  Now I've decided to concept her a bit more, trying to make her appear more aquatic or amphibious.

Anyways, here's a portrait I did recently, I've shown it to a couple of my teachers and they suggested I make her even more alien in appearance.  I'm a bit torn because I want her to be pretty.  Luckily a friend of mine gave me the idea of making her a siren.... so she lures people in, then turns to a monster/ creature and eats them!

Older Speedpaintings

These are some speedpaintings I mostly made for contests at sketchoholic.. Most of them are done within an hour.

This one was a study from a provided image.

Some old work.

Thought I'd start my posts with some of my older work... mostly just to get stuff up!

I have a reference for this one. You can find it here.

Hello!

I'm just gonna introduce myself.  I'm Sarah Roland and I attend the Art Institute of Vancouver; studying 3D Modelling for animation and games.  I'm going to use this blog as a sketchbook, and basically a place to post any artwork I create.

Hopefully I'll post a bunch!
